Privacy Policy

This policy covers the MarketMaps iOS app, version 1 ("MarketMaps", "we"). Version 1 has no accounts, no subscription, no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs.

What stays on your iPhone

• Location. With your permission, MarketMaps uses your location while the app is open to sort nearby supported stores and to show your position during in-store navigation. The nearby-store search runs on your device against a store list built into the app. We do not collect or store your location, and the app does not track you in the background.
• Lists, trips and preferences are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
• Camera. If you choose to scan a shelf QR code or turn on AR direction arrows, the camera is used on your device only. Images are not saved or sent anywhere.
• Microphone and speech recognition. If you use voice search, your speech is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition, which may process the audio on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive or keep recordings.

Network requests the app makes

• Store maps. When you open a supported store, the app downloads that store's floor plan and product-location file from GitHub (github.com, operated by GitHub, Inc.). The request carries no personal information, but like any web request GitHub receives your IP address and device details under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
• Place search. If you type a city or ZIP code to find stores, that text is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service (OSMF privacy policy).
• Maps. The outdoor store map is provided by Apple Maps. Indoor maps load their label fonts from demotiles.maplibre.org.

What we collect

We, the developer, do not operate a server for version 1 and do not receive or store any personal data. We do not sell or share personal data.

Children

MarketMaps is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If a future version adds accounts or other data collection, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date before that version is released.
